Beneath the Red Hood.

Have you installed XP Service Pack 3?

If you are one of those, like me who refuse to migrate over to Vista would have scoured the net for the latest service pack for XP. Since it is not available yet on Automatic Updates just yet, you will have to either get it off a torrent site (risking it being infected with trojans & worms) or rummage through Microsoft.com for it.

Is there any significant difference in terms of performance or security? Honestly not that I have noticed after 3 months of running on it. While my experience has been less plagued with problems, there have been reports of some serious issues arising from the update. Noteworthy would be for AMD processors rebooting endlessly (insert guffaw) which had to be blocked from being able to download the upgrade. Other issues were internet and wireless settings getting deleted after installing XP3. The blame has been thrown at Symantec Corp for allegedly causing registry key corruptions after installation.

How ironic that Microsoft is announcing that XP3 will be available for Automatic Update just a week after they announced that they are halting sales of XP to retail outlets and disallowing major computer makers from installing it on new PCs. Someone please ask Bill and come straighten this out because we know the guy whose running things now is an imbecile.
