Will Less be More?
Minimalism as a cultural movement is vast gaining popularity. In today’s technology-driven world, where you’re only as influential as your last tweet, manufacturers are creating cleaner, simpler gadgets that do just ONE thing really well, like the Kindle.
As we digitize the components, the memories that make up our life – photos, videos, music, books, work documents, even old bills, should we hold on to the old mediums – The DVDs, cassette tapes, the shelves of paperback books we treasure so dearly?
I came across thisĀ article, which brings minimalism to a whole new level. Imagine living with just your smartphone, iPod, iPad, thumb drives, and digital camera – the barest of physical posessions, with the largest portion of your life stored on a drive or cloud. Bizarre, or close to home? Check out CultofLess.com.
Proponents of this minimalist way of life say that getting rid of physical clutter leaves them worry-free: not having a physical home is fine, because they have a presence online.
Is this going to be our way of life? Clutter-free eco-living, mobility of the highest degree, a life online?
