Though they may be a minority in Malaysia, disabled persons still form a large population and have very pertinent human needs. Realising this, the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (better known as BAKTI) in Malaysia have spearheaded a project to form the Malaysian Information Network on Disabilites (MIND).

Integricity was first approached by Mr CK Liew, who is a victim of Spinal Cord Injury. Due to an accident, he cannot move from neck downwards. Nonetheless, he is extremely able for a disabled person, and has since accomplished much. He brought Integricity into the MIND project as the web solution partners, as the needs were to established an extensive website that caters for multiple types of disabilities.

Integricity provided extensive consultancy and project management to enable the client, BAKTI to launch their website for the public. The entire process involved out-of-the-box solutions, whether from a technical standpoint, or not.
BAKTI engaged Integricity to set up a fully equipped computer lab for its disabled volunteers who would form the basis of the web maintenance team. Different computers were set up differently according to the disability types. Mr CK Liew’s computer was equipped with voice synthesizer software that enabled him to speak to the computer and perform day-to-day tasks.
Part of the solution that was provided to BAKTI to save costs was the partnership with Microsoft to sponsor the software for the computer lab. Integricity liaised with the Microsoft personnel to organize the donation all the computers.
Integricity WebToolz, which is our Content Management System was customized for the project needs to enable all the volunteers to enter content for the website. The website was subdivided into 8 areas to cater for different contents relating to the specific disabilities.
Data collection and research was performed by volunteers, and this effort was managed by Integricity consultants who guided them according to a specific framework. Extensive training was provided which ranged from Internet Explorer usage to file archiving.

Currently, there are hundreds of pages of information on disabilities that cater for the Malaysian audience. The computer lab that has been set up is an important resource centre for many disabled persons and has seen dozens of volunteers, from those on wheelchairs, to those with crutches.
Integricity is proud to be a partner for a wholesome community site that lends assistance to the general disabled public.
